I was wondering if this is motto is gramatically correct? its my family motto and i'm not sure that its grammatically correct.

"Ag altoirí, mar ag céachtaí" apparently its supposeed to mean something along the lines of (as well by altars as by ploughs.)

I would apreciate if you guys could take a look and tell me what you think.

Where have you gotten it? I am wondering why you are doubtful of its correctness.

One thing I will mention (without comment as to its correctness, as it seems fine to me but I am but an Irish learner myself) is that it should be spelled:
Ag altóirí, mar ag céachtaí

Hmm, "mar" is a preposition or a conjunction with a lot of different meanings. Here it is meant to mean "as".
But I don't know, whether it is correct here, esp. because no dictionary mentions it in the expanded meaning of "as well as"

So I'd recommend:
Ag altóirí chomh maith le céachtaí

The meaning, "at altars as at plows" or "by altars as by plows" sounds logical, in the sense of perhaps: "our family serves by providing clergy and by farming", or something like that. What surname is involved with the motto?
