I'm fairly certain that the dative (Éirinn) is always used after a preposition.

Dinneen has:

i dteinidh an lae "in the heat of the day"

where teine (= tine) is in the dative, even though it is in a genitive compound construction, i.e., teine an lae.

Yeah normally after such prepositions, Éirinn is used, in all dialects I think (anyway in many dialects, they use Éirinn instead of Éire even in the nominative).

When I was a child I'd see "Éire" written, on postage stamps etc., and wonder how come nobody ever says it that way.
