I need a reminder here: Can I say something like this?

"Johanna is ainm di, ach tugaimid "Anna" uirthi"/"Johanna is her name, but we call her "Anna."

I'm familiar with the construction "Redwolf a thugtar orm," but I'm not sure if I've seen/heard this in anything other than a passive sense, so I want to be sure I'm using "tabhair" correctly above.

In Foclóir.ie there's -
She's called Bríd - Bríd a thugtar uirthi - or - Bríd a ghlaoitear uirthi.

I think it should be:

Johanna is ainm di, ach tugaimid "Anna" uirthi. "Johanna is her name, but we call her 'Anna.'"

or

Johanna is ainm di, ach is "Anna" a thugaimid uirthi. "Johanna is her name, but we call her 'Anna.'"

It can be used in the non-passive sense, but I've more often heard the passive reworked, like:

Bríd a t(h)ugtar uirthi inár dtigh-ne We call her Bríd.
