I want to get a tattoo in Irish Gaelic in a couple weeks. I want it to say:
"May all God's blessings descend upon O'Reilly"
"You can't understand what you haven't experienced"
"The family of O'Reilly"
"The Clan of O'Reilly"
I appreciate anyone's help.
Braoin is much more knowledgeable than I about Irish, but...... in this instance, I think Birish may be looking for 'Muintir' for 'Clan'. If you mean the whole extended family, people close to you etc. I would suggest 'Muintir'.
For 'family', it depends what you mean. 'Clann' seems to be acceptable in many quarters as a straightforward translation for 'family'. Strictly speaking, I think it refers only to your children. Teaghlach for the household. So for 'The family of O'Reilly' it depends what exactly you mean.
