Beginning of Psalm 34 (35) verse 19:
An mhuíntir atá im choinnibh go héagórtha ná deinidís gáirdeachas os mo chionn
Douay Rheims:
Let not my unprovoked enemies rejoice over me.
________
What does im choinnibh mean? I'm not seeing it's purpose in the Irish version of this verse...
i gcoinnibh (CO:
i gcoinne) = against
im choinnibh (CO:
i mo choinne) = against me
coinnibh, dative plural of coinne
The people who are against me unjustly, let them not make rejoice over me.
(KJB: Let not them that are mine enemies wrongfully rejoice over me)
