I imagine just like the other questions posted by Rossaí that there is more than one way to say this.
Here's my idea:
"Fáigh siniú air" or maybe, "Cuir é á shíniú".

For me:
Faigh síniú air
makes sense
...as does Bríd's
Faigh sínithe é

'Fáigh' should be 'Faigh'
'siniú' should be 'síniú'
and
'Cuir é á shíniú' for me sounds odd and I would not say it.

I'd say something like Bríd Braoin, although it sounds wrong to me at the same time, or at least quirky..."Faigh sínithe é"

Your suggestion sounds better" faigh síniú air" and perhaps the distance between the two concepts cannot be bridged literally.

Although even Ó Criomhthain used phrases like "Fuair sé saor me".." He got me off...(in the sense of free)", and that sounded strange to me at first also. But it's Ó'C and that's the end of that really....so perhaps "faigh sínithe é" makes sense too.

I'd like to pick your brains a bit if I may.

I was using "Cuir é á shíniú" along the lines of "culaith a chur á déanamh", to get a suit made; 'to put a suit to its making'.
Just using the pronouns, ...é á..., together looked a bit odd to me as well, but my Irish isn't good enough to know if that has any bearing on it or not.
So my question is, would you only use this sort of sentence with a full noun?
And could someone please explain a bit more about this construction to me?

You might have something like:

Déan é a shíniú = Sign it

which goes along those lines...

... but I think I'd be too lazy for that when I can say: Faigh sínithe é or Cuir síniú air...

I think sometimes people try too hard to find another way to say something they perceive as Béarlachas. There's no reason why languages can't say something in a similar way.



If you are talking directly to the person you want to actually sign it. Just say -
"Sínigh é". (the "é" kinda disapears as the two vowels sounds come together).
Possibly more natural way is to say - Scríobh d'ainm ansin. (it's assumed you want a signature not block capitals )

So are you saying that construction would be too formal or bookish, or would it just not be used at all at all?
