Hi,

I am looking for an Irish word that would encompass some team sports, ie Gaelic football, hurling, soccer, rugby. I was thinking Cluiche or Spraoi or Súgradh.
Anybody have any feedback or advice as to which would suit this best? I am looking to use it as a project for a proposed brand of sports gear.

On the news site http://tuairisc.ie/ they use "Spórt" as the heading for their sports section. But maybe the difference from English is to too subtle for your needs.

They use "Cluichí Gaelacha" for the subheading for Gaelic games.

Cluichí is games but it's also matches. (singular: cluiche)

Some more context might be necessary: is the plan to use just this word on its own?

I wouldn't use "súgradh." That's more "play" as in children or puppies playing. You use "imirt" when speaking of playing a game such as football or hurling.

What about "foireann" ("team"), since these are all team sports? Or you could play on "spórt" (which actually means "fun," but might draw the attention of possible customers who don't speak much Irish.

Jo, úplně chápu, že hledáš slovo, které by pěkně vystihlo týmové sporty a zároveň mělo vhodný zvuk pro značku. Abych si od toho odpočinul, zkusil jsem spinmama casino, kde mají bonusy přímo pro hráče z Česka. Začal jsem u automatů, párkrát prohrál, ale pak přišla pěkná výhra, která mě opravdu potěšila. Teď si tam občas zahraju, hlavně když chci vypnout hlavu, trochu zariskovat a užít si napětí a zábavu, podobně jako když člověk hledá správné slovo pro svůj projekt.
