Hi guys,
Has anyone heard of the "Gabh le Gaeilge" campaign in the North? It's basically tryin to promote Irish as a GCSE choice but the wording Gabh le Gaeilge intrigued me. Is that a Béarlachas or does it make sense san Chaighdeán?
If it makes sense could you say something like "Gabh le Grá"? In terms of context, I'm just thinking of "Go with love" for graphic design/slogan opportunities here.
Any help you could give would be grand, Thanks so much!


PS, just to be an added pain, would the following sentence make sense as Gaeilge:
"An Béarlachas é sin, nó an ceart é sin "Gabh le Gaeilge" a rá san Chaighdeán?"
I was originally going to write this whole request as Gaeilge but thought better of it for accuracy's sake. But I'd be interested to see if I'm using the copula right in this sentence.

I meant "nó an ceart é "Gabh le Gaeilge" a rá", without a "sin"

I don't see it as Béarlachas.

I think maybe "gabh" is used more in Conamara than other places. But we use "teigh" as well.

Gabh - is a multi use word. It can mean go or come as well as a lot of other meanings.

Gabh siar sa seomra. - Go back in the room.

Gabh i leith (goile) - Come here.

Gabh roimhe - go before him.

Gabh leis sin - go with that. (similar to the slogan mentioned)

Go raibh míle maith agat, a Bhríd! I was aware of "Gabh i leith" etc but Gabh le Gaeilge just really felt like Béarlachas for some reason and I just wanted to check. It just seemed to simple, dhiúnó?
