As a follow-up to Lughaidh's reply to Faber concerning use of lenition and eclipsis after prepositions in Ulster Irish (here), I made a parallel table for Connacht Irish ((here).

This is a new thread is for the standard forms. I'll post them as I understand them and then we can discuss any changes that need to be made:

ag balla --------- ag an mballa
ar chloch ------------ ar an gcloch
as bocsa ---------------- as an mbocsa
chuig cara ----------------- chuig an gcara
de chlár ---------------- den chlár
do chara -------------- don chara
fara duine -------------- fairis an duine
faoi chloch -------------- faoin gcloch
i mbocsa ------------- sa bhocsa (san earrach, san fhómhar)
ionsar bhean -------------- ionsar an mbean
le cara -------------- leis an gcara (but le hairgead)
ó cheantar ------------ ón gceantar
roimh chloch ------------- roimh an gcloch
trí fhuinneog ------------ tríd an bhfuinneog
thar chloch ----------------- thar an gcloch
um choill ------------ um an gcoill

go cathair ----------- go dtí an chathair (go can't be directly followed by the article, if you need the article you use go dtí before it and the noun in is the nominative so feminine nouns are lenited) (and go prefixes h to vowels, go hÉirinn, go hAlbain)

The Rules (roughly):

i always causes eclipsis (urú).
ag/as/chuig/fara/le cause no change directly (i.e., without an intervening an).
go causes no change directly (i.e., without an intervening an), but adds h before a vowel.
fairis causes no change after intervening an :?:
All other prepositions cause lenition (séimhiú) directly (i.e., without an intervening an).

den/don cause lenition.
All other prepositions cause eclipsis (urú) after an.

d, t, s resist lenition and eclipsis after an (DNTLS rule).
t is added before feminine words starting with s after the article in the dative, ar an tsráid, den tsúil.

(Corrections welcome.)

Great idea to have different threads for the different dialects and caighdeán about this. It should keep everyone happy.
