Bhí an-díoma orm nuair a bhíomar sa Daingean i rith na seachtaine mar ní raibh Gaeilge ar bith ar na biachláir nó ar na fógraí timpeall na háite ach amháin na comharthaí bóthair oifigiúla. (spelling?)

Thosaigh gach freastalaí i mBéarla ach leanamar ar aghaidh i nGaeilge agus tháinig siad ar ais i nGaeilge. Bhí sé an-ait. Tá Gaeilge ag alán daoine nó cuid dóibh ann, ach níl aon 'evidence?' sna fógraí srl.

So back to the title of the thread... There's feck all Gaeilge to see sa Daingean; they might as well call it Dingle and be done with it and hand back any grants they get for being in the Gaeltacht....

Aon tuairimí eile?

An raibh níos mó le feiceáil nó le cloisteáil in áiteanna eile? Tá a fhios agam féin nach bhfuil a lán I mbaile na sceilge, cé gur Gaeltacht oifigiúil í. Lá amháin chuala mé Gaeilge ann, an fáth a tugadh Dom ná go raibh na múinteoirí timpeall na háite ag an am sin.

I totally agree. I've often said Dingle (as that's what they want to call it) should be kicked out of the Gaeltacht.
I believe the rural areas around the town do have a lot of Irish speakers and deserve the Gaeltacht status.

It is recommended that you always wait for three to agree on a translation.
I speak Connemara Irish, and my input will often reflect that.
I will do an mp3 file on request for short translations.

Chualamar agus chonaiceamar níos mó Gaeilge i mBaile an Fheirtéartaigh. Nuair a bhíomar i nGaoth Dobhair, ceapaim go raibh i bhfad níos mó Gaeilge le feiceáil agus le cloisteáil timpeall na háite.
