Seanabhean is ea mise anois go bhfuil cos léi insan uaigh is an chos eile ar a bruach.
(Peig: A Scéal Féin, Máire Ní MhainnÍn & Liam P. Ó Múrchú (Eagarthóirí), An Sagart, an Daingean, 1998)

There's a few examples of Munster grammar in that first line alone ...

(Edited to add bibliographic data)

Interesting! My 'eagrán scoile' which is from the 80s has:

Seanbhean is ea mise anois, a bhfuil cos léi san uaigh is an chos eile ar a bruach.

Is it because the editor thought pupils are too stupid to understand the genuine sentence?.......

That _is_ interesting, Scooby. That would be the version that everyone has so grown to hate is used to then.

I've added in the bibliographical data above.

I have the one you have cited too and hadn't realised they were so different until now.

From the title page:
Quote:
PEIG
Tuairisc a thug
PEIG SAYERS
ar imeachtaí a beatha féin

MÁIRE NÍ CHINNÉIDE, M.A.
a d'ullmhaigh an chéad Eagrán

Eagrán scoile é seo

COMHLACHT OIDEACHAS NA hÉIREANN

Undated. But I would have picked mine up in Eason's in the 80s (IR£ 6.30).

Time to go and read the one with the blas ... 8-)

Ya this makes me so mad  . I don't want to read what someone has altered in an office. I want to read the story through the author's own words and means of expression.
