There appear to be three verses in the bible containing the passage similar to "For this cause shall a man leave father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife: and they twain shall be one flesh." Each has a different translation in An Bíobla Naofa (the Irish bible). The verses are:

Geineasas 2:24 (Genesis 2:24)
Uime sin, fágann an fear a athair agus a mháthair agus cloíonn sé lena bhean, agus déanann aon fheoil amháin díobh.

Matha 19:5 (Matthew 19:5)
Mar gheall air sin, fágfaidh duine a athair agus a mháthair chun bheith go dlúth i bpáirt lena bhean, agus aon cholainn amháin a bheidh sa bheirt acu.

Marcas 10:7-8 (Mark 10:7-8)
mar gheall air sin fágfaidh duine a athair agus a mháthair chun bheith go dlúth i bpáirt lena bhean, agus aon cholainn amháin a bheidh sa bheirt acu

The latter two are very close to each other, but very different from the one which they are "quoting".

Given that the Genesis verse is in the present tense and the others in the future tense, I suppose Matthew 19:5 is the closest?

Any other opinions?

I would say Genesis.
As it seems that Matthew and Mark are quoting Genesis.

I believe the Bíobla Naofa is translated from the original texts/languages. So the differences probably come from the Genesis quote translated from Hebrew, and the Gospels translated from Greek. (something lost in translation between three languages.) If the Bíobla was translated from English it would be different again.
I'm not a Bible expert so feel free to correct me.

Edited -

Looks like the Hebrew word דָבַק means "glued, joined". So "cloíonn" seems to be an appropriate word there.

It is recommended that you always wait for three to agree on a translation.
I speak Connemara Irish, and my input will often reflect that.
I will do an mp3 file on request for short translations.

First off, thanks for the help! I wish I could learn to speak it. It's such a beautiful language. I was looking for Matthew 19:5, but the other translations are helpful as well.
