Their loss is our gain. (Níl mé in ann é sin a rá as Gaeilge. Cabhraigh liom leis le do thoil.)

Bhuel b'shin ceann de na rudaí is amaidí agus is dochreidte dár chuala mé le fada an lá, a Wombat. Caint ar a bheith dod' shá féin sa gcois agus chuile áit eile chomh maith. 'Bhfuil tuiscint ar bith acu ar an méid oibre agus dúthrachta atá curtha isteach agat féin, agus a bhíonn á chur isteach i gcónaí agat, ar son mhúineadh na Gaeilge do thosaitheoirí agus do dhuine ar bith ar suim leis tabhairt faoin teanga seo a fhoghlaim?!! Marab ann do lá na n-amadán amárach is a cheapadh gur a' déanamh magadh atá tú a chara ach ag breathnú ar chúrsaí an tsuímh úd le píosa anuas is beag an t-ionadh a chuirfeadh sé orm murab ea.
...mar a dúirt an té a dúirt ní spéis ná suim dá laghad le húinéirí nua an tsuímh sin cúrsaí na teanga; buillí na luchóg, b'shin an méid... :(

Mar adeir saoirse "their loss is our gain" - an dochar dóibh siúd is ea an sochar dúinn féin.

They're still hedging their bets with me. I'm banned, but only until tomorrow.

Hmmm...April Fools Day.....

Sorry lads, I really don't understand what's going on at all. Ye're making it sound like a load of stormtroopers are after taking over the old forum! I knew it had become plagued with spam and advertising and the rest of it but I thought that was just viruses and other muck that comes with the internet. Are there evil people blocking the hard working translators that give us all so much help because ye're affiliated with this forum now?

Ní thuigim é ar chor ar bith! Cad é an scéal?!

In a word, yes.

The forum was sold to a company (Ezoic) that makes its money by buying up popular sites and loading them down with ads. We (the moderators) offered to work with the company to find a way to keep the site profitable to them while preserving the integrity of the site, and we were ignored. There was a complete blow-up a few weeks ago, and now most of the old moderators, as well as several innocent bystanders, have been banned under false pretenses, with lies about how they conducted themselves posted over at IGTF, where they couldn't defend themselves. The new owners have deleted posts protesting the ads, and are even changing the contents of some of the posts to insert spam links or to make the posts look favorable toward the owners.

A Mhaighdean! Sin uafásach! There's such a wealth of knowledge on that sight is mór an trua é go bhfuil sé millte anois.
Well at least most of ye are here now... We're like the Christians hiding in the catacombs!

Viva la Irish Learner's Forum!

I just tried to sign in to IGTF. This is the message I received . I think it is funny, me the novice, was barred.

"The specified username is currently inactive. If you have problems activating your account, please contact a board administrator."

Sorry, I will not be contacting the board administrator. I just totally moved on!

Didn't you say before that you changed your email address on the forum. So they probably sent you a confirmation email to the new email address with a link to re-activate your account.

It is recommended that you always wait for three to agree on a translation.
I speak Connemara Irish, and my input will often reflect that.
I will do an mp3 file on request for short translations.
