Same here, Bríd. I'm going to dispute it to be a pain. It was clear in all my posts that I WASN'T promoting a commercial service in my posts. I gave suggestions in about half my posts, and suggestions plus a link to get confirmation here, as was protocol on that site. I mean, how else is confirmation possible?

Realistically? It's best that people NOT get answers there. That just lines the pockets of the owners who have driven the site into the ground already. If they really want help, and they don't get results there, they'll search, and they'll have no trouble finding us here. In fact, the more posts we have here, the easier we'll be to find.

We never had a problem with people promoting other Irish Language sites there (other than that, if they were for-profit, they seek permission from the admin first), but clearly the new owners don't see eye to eye with that. They also clearly have a very loose relationship with the truth...remember the lies they posted about the moderators when we were banned initially? These people will say anything to justify what they want to do...in fact, they're now sullying YOUR good name by turning your "confirmation" link into a spam link.

Yup. I know. It's for the best that the ties were eventually cut. Like I said in the other thread, i just didn't like seeing so many people get stranded, as it were, as the site still gets a nice bit of traffic.

Yep...it will continue to do so for quite a while, as it's been around for a long time and has a lot of threads. Word is already getting around, though.

As a family name, it is Ó Luachráin, but the spelling may have been different in the past.

I found "Lochran" a few places on Google.
But it's not a name I'm personally familiar with.
So like Breandán said it was probably originally a surname "Ó Luachráin" that was in your family that you were then named after.
