Looking at the stack of dirty plates and cups in my kitchen right now, I'm kind of glad there's a machine that can handle that particular job.

That's a labour-saving device. I am talking about machines that simultaneously replace several positions of paid work that would otherwise help people to stay in their local communities and not have to move elsewhere.

I know a few indirectly (through friends) that speak (really spoke, though) Irish in the years gone.

By the way, did anyone see the news article in thew Jerusalem Post regarding students in Caherciveen? There was a bit of a fuss about it.

Yeah, it was an obnoxious slur by the media machine of the Israeli embassy. One isn't allowed to show solidarity with the Palestinians without being accused of anti-Semitism. The principal was very dignified in his rejection of the criticism.

The same can often be seen when someone shows positivity towards the Irish language; sometimes people misinterpret it (or possibly choose to do so) as being anti the English language.

I agree, Saoirse. Sadly though, more often than not (perhaps in both cases) I think it's more a case of deliberate distortion by people with an agenda rather than an innocent misinterpretation...
