The native phpBB attachment facility was enabled on a test basis but was found not to function in an acceptable manner and was subsequently disabled. If you don't wish to send us a file for storage on our server, you can use box.net as Bríd does and quote that URL externally.

The main difference is that files uploaded to our server will play with one click on the link in the post, whereas external links open a new window at the quoted site and require more mousework to play the file. The phpBB attachment system requires that the user download the file to his or her computer before playing or viewing.

Though you are probably correct in this case, once you have been on the forum a little longer, you will come to realise that this is not a safe assumption to make. We have seen people in the past who had their tattoo appointments literally scheduled for the following day, if not the same afternoon, and grabbed the first thing they were offered even though it was a practice translation by a beginner.

In one classic example, the OP took the quote from a translator's signature instead of the post itself and had that tattoed by mistake. The irony was that the quote was a proverb basically meaning "fools rush in ..."

I like Bríd's approach of do Dhia agus dise. However, I think it only covers the "for God and her" part

I also like Bríd's and I think you're right there- but does it really need the all?

That is a valid point of course, but perhaps one only the OP can really answer.

You folks are great! I can't thank you all enough. I'm in no rush and would prefer to get it right. :D
I did think of changing "all" to "everything". That expresses what I want it to read, stay short and grammatically correct.
So, "An uile do Dhia agus dise " (Everything for God and for her) fits the bill. Seeing this in old script is incredible!
A pronunciation for this too.

May I ask what chló is?
Again, thank you all so much!

Cló in this case is "print", "type(face)". Sean-chló is "old script/font/typeface".

Pronunciation:

An uile do Dhia agus dise
uh NIL-ih duh YEE-uh guss DIH-shih
/ə Nil´ə də ɣ´i:ə gəs d´is´ə/

And for reference, the other was:

M'íobairtí go léir di is do Dhia
MEE-bur-tee guh LAYR DIH-ss duh YEE-uh
/m´i:bərt´i: gə l´e:r d´is də ɣ´i:ə/

Am I understanding this means; For God and her?

Yes. But I think it is more poetic to leave "all" as implied rather than written.

It is recommended that you always wait for three to agree on a translation.
I speak Connemara Irish, and my input will often reflect that.
I will do an mp3 file on request for short translations.

With mine Breandán uploads the BOX ones later to the ILF server. The same can be done for Cionnfhaolach's ones.

Fair enough I think as the OP requested it. As long as the OP know we haven't finished discussing it.

Don't get me wrong I wasn't giving out at all, I would have no problem sending it to your server. I was going to try and put it up but then after listening back to it I got a bit self- conscious, I hate the sound of my voice on a recording it made me cringe  .

   , that's the dictionary definition of irony. I will definitely make sure I re-iterate that point in future.

If it's any consolation, I still cringe at some of the old recordings I did years ago (or even months ago). :darklaugh:

Don't over-think it! ;) I have perhaps half a dozen recordings on this site and IGTF. I usually ended up re-recording them to make them sound "better". You get used to it, though; let it happen naturally and it's all good :good:
