I just received information on a site that tries to hook people up for Irish conversation. Looks interesting! Has anyone here tried it yet?

"Session" means "sitting" so I would think of each hour as a "session". What they call a "session" I would call a "term".

I assume they mean $40 for the whole eight weeks, not for each hour?

That's Americanese. We'll sometimes use "session" to mean what you'd call a term (for example, when I was a kid at summer camp, each week-long period was called a "session"). I think it may be a regional thing.

I would assume $40 for the eight weeks as well, though I'd also have to point out, as Braoin did (for those whose Irish isn't quite up to reading his post) that it's not all that hard to find people who will be happy to hold a Skype conversation with you for free. Since these are conversations and not lessons, I don't think I'd be willing to pay for them unless I couldn't find some other way to talk to people. Seems a bit OTT to charge for hosting a chat!

I didn't realize, when I posted it, that this was a fee service. It was passed along to me (and to several others I know) by folks with the Fulbright Commission, to whom the people who run this service apparently sent it.
