I don't really know much about Gaelscoileannaí. But it looks like they are doing a better job of teaching Irish than the regular non-Gaeltacht schools.
I think it's great that you have different native speakers teaching there Saoirse.

It is recommended that you always wait for three to agree on a translation.
I speak Connemara Irish, and my input will often reflect that.
I will do an mp3 file on request for short translations.

The level of Irish is definitely far superior, although it wouldn't be hard to beat the level of Irish in some English language primary schools. I left after 14 years with little more than An bhfuil cead agam dul go dtí an leithreas.

I don't recall listening to that much audio or doing anything other than listen to the teacher and respond to her questions.
No conversations or anything like that.

Thats not to say everyone who left national school had bad Irish, nor everyone who went to Gaelscoil had a good conversational ability. Ive been surprised sometimes by the very halting conversational ability of some Gaelscoil and indeed Gaeltacht students.

I wonder how many schools/teachers employ these new resources and how many use the old method of dictating to the class?

They could defiantly try more conversational classes and events, maybe a activity through the target language?

I think it is one of the things that Conradh na Gaeilge advocate - that all primary schools teach a number of subjects through Irish. As far as I can remember, they suggest Art and Sport. Nobody can complain that they are dedicating more time to Irish, they are just adapting those areas a little.

Wouldn't bet on that

Some people think ANY time spent on Irish is too much.

They could do with more Sport in school for a start, think we had one two hour block a week in secondary, none in primary.
Art was a similar case if I recall.
