I've been learning Irish for a year or so and am getting on fine. I don't live in Ireland (like many of you) so I don't get too much chance to practise my speaking. I like writing though, and now I'm trying my hand at writing in Irish.

Hello, I am fairly certain the ^^^^ translates as , I am Francis and I live in Tralee. I left school over 30 years ago and the 16 years of Irish that was drummed into me was wasted. Now at almost 50 I have decided to take up the challenge again. To that end I have bought Buntús Cainte and I am half way through the first book. I have questions which I will post to the forum shortly.

I have been learning Irish for about two weeks now, so I'm definitely a beginner. I have, however, studied Scottish Gaelic before. I can't say that I'm anything beyond a beginner in that.
I hope to learn at a steady rate and to have a fun and beneficial time here.

Is mise Críos Ni Gíolla Ruaidh. Tá mé i mo chonai i Port Rois, i Chontae Aontroim. D’fhoglaim mé gaeilge ar scoil ach rinne mé dearmad gach rud. Thosaigh mé ag foghlaim aris trí mhí ó shin, ar an idirlíon, ach tá sé iontach deachair. Chanadh mé i gcór teanga Ghaeilge fosta agus tá sé deachair nios mó!

My name is Críos and I live in Portrush, County Antrim. I learned Irish at school but I forgot everything. I started learning again three months ago, on the internet, but it's very difficult. I also sing in an Irish language choir and that is even more difficult!

I've been told to 'use my words' so that's what I've done, even though I know I'm probably making huge mistakes and mixing up my tenses. I welcome corrections and look forward to having the chance to caint as gaeilge.
