I think Djwebb recently posted a link to a video by youtube channel LearnRealGaeilge. Anyway, another video from the same channel has a map of Irish dialects that encompasses the whole country. See https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pmvFVSqHinU at 49 seconds.

That's the first time I've seen the whole country mapped out by dialect.

Here's a link to another map I just found that includes all the Gaelic languages. https://uk.pinterest.com/pin/current-an ... 613709645/

That's a great site - I mean Learn Real Gaeilge. I deleted my post after I found his insulting comments about me (not really caused by him, but set off by one of the lurkers in his comments section)- this way of treating people is quite regularly found in the Irish speaking "world", unfortunately - it is full of spídiúchán, quite unnecessarily. But yes, I should not have deleted that post. His channel is good and that remains the case. Sorry about that.

That's exactly what I was looking for, grma! It seems like a North/Central/South dialect division makes a bit more sense than Ulster/Connacht/Munster in some ways.

I'd love to see that broken down further, by subdialect - though I'm not sure how feasible that would be for much of the country.

Also in the video he mentions a Tiktok account where a guy is trying to revive Beara Irish, great to see - https://www.tiktok.com/@ansasanach
