Indian spam for products and services not a single person on this forum will be interested in. Even where some attempt to delete spam is made, many of the bots remain in established threads. The posts are probably AI driven and often evince an interest in Irish, before giving the link to their crappy products. Has this forum been abandoned by moderators?

Summarized 10,000 % di sconto per gli TEMU prodotti!!!!
You probably get money back for buying there!

Regarding moderation: I would be willing to help if needed. It is not much work to delete the spam.

I think that the main problem is that most of the posts are just simply being deleted, and the original spam bots keep returning to make new posts. I think it would be a lot more effective if the accounts themselves were deleted/disabled, if that is even possible.

I've been deleting spam posts and accounts of "perpetrators." I've asked Brendan for help on this and am awaiting an answer. He may not be able to answer for a bit but I am hoping soon and that we can come to some remedy of the situation.

Tiom, I'm glad you're addressing it. The thing is, no one with an Indian IP address is learning Irish...

I don’t know how to block IP addresses en masse; one thing I never learned as a moderator. I (WE!) need guidance from Brendan or someone else who knows. The more I delete and ban, the more inundation occurs. Crazy.

Probably not helpful to do so anyway, as anybody with the capability to create bots like that are probably spoofing their address, or hiding behind a VPN anyway.

That assumption is incorrect. We have had some very diligent Irish students from the Indian subcontinent. I will ban by email, including some from lesser known domain names.

I will be monitoring new members but they have started using AI to answer the security questions, making it harder to distinguish human from bot.

Please report posts with spam in them and we will eject the perpetrators.
