I vote for the different dialects idea - so that we know who says what and how it's different from the others. :good:

If we go with "cá bhfuil an leithreas," we'll want to make sure they have "Fir" and "Mná" as well!

Shall we go with this one first then?

It is recommended that you always wait for three to agree on a translation.
I speak Connemara Irish, and my input will often reflect that.
I will do an mp3 file on request for short translations.

I agree with Breandán to have a thread with the phrase alone, and to discuss which phrase we will choose in this thread.

If possible I'd like to put up the same phrase in standard and the three major dialects, so people can learn the differences - but will we ever agree on a version for each.

(Saoirse, "Urban" is not a dialect - it's just a mispronunciation of standard Irish  )

Breandán or I could do a soundfile for Conamara Irish.
And Lughaidh for Donegal Irish.
Maybe we could get Gumbi to do Munster.
Who else here has Munster Irish?

And that answered me on the double! What I was actually wondering was whether Breandán or Lughaidh would jump in first. What I hadn't anticipated was that you would both jump!

Don't you just love it when a plan comes together - twice!!
Agus, a Bhreandáin, Is AOIBHINN LIOM AN SMILIE SIN!.
