I'm posting this here, rather than just in the Scottish Gaelic section, because it might be of wider interest. Through a Gaelic forum in which I participate (largely as a lurker, until I am more proficient), I learned that there is a Scottish Gaelic equivalent of the Irish song Báidín Fheilimí, set to the same tune, but removed to the Outer Hebrides, rather than northern Donegal:
Bàta Sheumais a' seòladh gu Barraigh bàta Sheumais is Seumas air bòrd bàta Sheumais a' seòladh gu Barraigh bàta Sheumais is Seumas air bòrd
Sèist: Bàta bìodach, bàta bòidheach bàta brèagha, bàt' aig a' bhodach bhochd bàta dìreach, bàta deònach bàta Sheumais is Seumas air bòrd.
Bàta Sheumais tighinn dhachaigh gu Leòdhas bàta Sheumais is Seumas air bòrd bàta Sheumais tighinn dhachaigh gu Leòdhas bàta Sheumais is Seumas air bòrd
Bàta Sheumais chaidh fodha air Rònaigh bàta Sheumais is Seumas air bòrd bàta Sheumais chaidh fodha air Rònaigh bàta Sheumais is Seumas air bòrd
James’s boat sailing to Barra James’s boat with James on board James’s boat sailing to Barra James’s boat with James on board
Chorus: Little boat, pretty boat Fine boat, boat of the poor old fellow True boat, willing boat James’s boat with James on board
James’s boat coming home to Lewis James’s boat with James on board James’s boat coming home to Lewis James’s boat with James on board
James’s boat went under on Rona James’s boat with James on board James’s boat went under on Rona James’s boat with James on board
