Hi, I’m working on the caption for a video I’m doing for my Instagram, and I want to say, “When you realize it’s time to stop daydreaming about being fluent and actually study…”

I wonder, would this be the best/most natural way to say that?: “Nuair a thuigeann tú go bhfuil sé in am éirí as an bhrionglóid faoi bheith líofa, agus bheith ag staidéar i ndáiríre.”

If that is the best way, I kind of like the double meaning of “stop dreaming”/“wake up from dreaming”. But if there’s a better way, like using “stopadh,” then I’d rather do that…

Anyway, thank you all!

Personally I like "rith le" for the meaning of to realise (nuair a ritheann sé leat...) but I don't have much for the rest sorry.

Interesting! Thank you—that’s a new phrase for me! :D

I think I may amend my caption to “Nuair a ritheann sé leat go bhfuil sé in am éirí as do bhrionglóideach fá bheith líofa, agus bheith ag staidéar i ndáiríre.

Thank you again. I know you said you’re unsure about the second part, but do you (or anyone else reading this) know if the specific part about “éirí as do bhrionglóideach fá bheith líofa” sounds out of place? Thank you!

Nuair a ritheann leat. Or: nuair a tuigtar duit?

Nuair a tuigtar i t'aigne dhuit gur mhithid duit/gur chóir duit stad de bheith ag taibhreamh mar gheall ar mháistríocht a bheith agat ar an dteangain, agus luí ar stuidéar dáiríribh a dhéanamh uirthi fé dheireadh.

Awesome! Thank you! :D I had already posted my reel caption as “Nuair a ritheann sé leat go bhfuil sé in am éirí as do bhrionglóideach fá bheith líofa sa Ghaeilge agus bheith ag staidéar ina ionad sin.”

I feel happy with my caption because I did my best at it, but now I know more ways to communicate the same thing thanks to y’all! Thank you again!
