I have recently bought a house and want to Christen it with an Irish name. It’s on a very steep hill and I want to call it “Steep House.” Would the correct translation be “Teach Géar” or “Teach Ghéar” or something else entirely? Thanks in anticipation.

Yes, I'd say Teach Géar is the one.
Géar also means sharp.

Other versions might include Teach Rite or Teach Crochta
Rite meaning 'run' and Crochta meaning 'over hung/hanging'

But Teach Géar is the best in my view.

Teach is masculine so the adjective is not lenited.

Actually I'd prefer Aslaraí's "Teach Crochta", or maybe "Teach ar Ard".

I have been giving some thought to “Does Steep House even make sense in English?” & I’ve concluded it doesn’t! Would “Steep Hill House” be better and would that translate to “Teach Cnoc Géar” ?
