Excellent,,, thanks muc...

How does this translate,, just so I understand the grammar....
Is é an ceol cara m'anama.

How do you translate Is é an???
Just roughly,,,

In Spanish "La musica es la pareja de mi alma" in English "The music is the partner of my soul" or correctly "Music is my soulmate"

The literal meaning (the grammatically correct, but literal, English translation) would be: ‘the music is the friend of my soul’.

Word by word (which wouldn’t make sense in English, but that’s the typical structure of such Irish sentences) it is: ‘is it the music friend my soul’s’.

Is é an (‘is it the’) by itself means nothing.

Is – ‘is’ (that’s the copula, the verb saying that ‘something is something else’)
é an ceol – ‘the music’ (there is é – ‘it’ – here, because Irish forbids determinate words – like ‘the music’ – by themselves after the copula, they need additional pronoun before them, that’s é here)
cara m’anama – ‘the friend of my soul’ (without an – the Irish ‘the’ word – here, because in Irish if you put a genitive of a determinate phrase after something, the genitive makes it determinate, and ‘my soul’ is a determinate thing, so cara m’anama – ‘friend my soul’s’ – in Irish is also already determinate and means ‘the friend of…’)

an ceol = the music (music in a general sense usually with the article in Irish, an = the)

is = is

"is an ceol" is impossible, a pronoun must be inserted: é, so: Is é an ceol
