I'm looking for the translation in Irish Gaelic for the phrase "make it matter". What would that be?

It would be useful for you to elaborate a bit on what this phrase means to you. "It" is kind of problematic in Irish, as it kind of has to refer back to something. Could this be paraphrased as "Make your life matter" or something similar?

Yes, i would say along the lines of making your life matter. Does that help with coming up for a translation? If so, what would that be?

I'm not sure how to put it in the command form ("make it ...") intelligently without getting a bit cumbersome, but here's a possibility for the basic premise:

Is é do shaol is tabhachtaí é
It's your life which matters most

or, abbreviating the beginning in a common way with such expressions:
Sé do shaol is tabhachtaí é

Hmm, either
... ar tabhachtaí é.
("é" demands an indirect relative clause)
or:
... is tabhachtaí.

And:
"Go raibh sé do shaol ..." is impossible (kind of "Tá sé fear")

so,
Gurab é do shaol is tabhachtaí é.
(here: gurab é [do shaol is tabhachtaí] é, so direct relative)
or
Gurab é do shaol é ar tabhachtaí é.

(Though I don't know if native speakers would say so.)

What about:
'Cur chun tairbhe é.' 'Make it count'.
If you want to specifically mention 'life' - 'Cur chun tairbhe é do shaol.'

Yes, I should've been more clear. I was giving the thumbs up only to: 'Cuir chun tairbhe é.' 'Make it count'.
É should be omitted from the second sentence: 'Cuir chun tairbhe do shaol'.
