Hey!

I was told the translation for "You live through me" is...

Maireann tú tríom RMM

Is that correct?

Thanks!

Can you clarify what this means so that the essence of what you are looking for is not lost in a literal translation?

Yeah! I lost my father to cancer so the message is meant to mean even though you have passed you figuratively "live through" me. Does that help?

Maireann tú trí mo shaol. = You live through my life.

I think 'Maireann tú tríom' may be technically correct, but I prefer the addition of 'my life' for the meaning. Having said that, there are people far wiser than me around here so I'd wait for some of them to add their tuppence-worth!

Tá a fhios againn uilig go bhfuil tú ar na daoine is wise-áilte ar an fhóram seo :D .

My suggestion: "Maireann tú tríomsa". Mcelmu11, 'tríomsa' is the emphatic form of 'tríom' and is, I think, better here. You could also use the future tense: "Mairfidh tú... " ('You will live...).

As ever, confirmation is recommended.

Bhíos féin díreach ar tí an rud céanna a phóstáil.

OP, I think what Errigal has suggested (which is merely a tweak on what you already have), is good.

Maireann tú tríomsa
