I was wondering if anyone could give me a translation of this phrase, "May you live as long as you want, and never want as long as you live." I'm nervous enough about tattoos so I would really appreciate a consistent translation.

The word play probably won't carry over as well in Irish (you don't "want" for something in Irish, you "wish it" or you "would like it to be" or "it would be good for you"), but I'll give it a shot.

Go maire tú chomh fada agus is mian leat, gan chíocras dá laghad agat chomh fada 's atá tú beo

The wordplay isn't there in that suggestion because the Irish construction won't allow it... I used a word for "deep desire" or "greed" for not wanting anything in life to get the idea across.

Is there a saying in Irish which has the essence of what is requested here, but may not be a literal translation? I can't get past the idea of Spock saying, 'Live long and prosper'!
