I would like to say something along the lines of "I was lucky that I got a place in a course which was my preference"

Would this be ok to say? Grammatically speaking; "Bhí an t-ádh dearg orm go bhfuair mé áit i mbunchéim ar thug mé tús áite uirthi"

Ó thaobh na gramadaí de: ...ar chúrsa (bunchéime?) ar thug mé tús áite dó

Edit:Just realised I'd written 'gramadach' instead of 'gramadaí'. Didn't anybody notice?

Bhí an t-ádh orm go bhfuair áit ar chúrsa arbh é mo chéad rogha é.
