Athbhliain faoi mhaise daoibh a chairde (agus Nollaig na mBan Shona daoibh chomh maith!)

Ceist agam oraibh:

Cén chaoi á aistreoidís "I see" san abairt seo a leanas:

And after the alleged rape took place I see you sat your summer exams and all your grades were excellent.

'Sé an comhthéacs ná go bhfuil an príomhcharachtar ag samhlú í féin ar chlár na mionn sa chúirt agus an abhcóide ag cur ceisteanna uirthi. Ní dóigh liom go bhuil "feicim" oiriúnach anseo. Rud éicint mar "tugtar le fios dom" / "tuigim"?

GRMA roimh ré

"Dealraíonn sé" b'fhéidir.

Ba dhóigh liom gur fearr "feicim" a úsáid ná "tuigim" sa chas seo. Is cosúla ná a mhalairt nách dtabharfadh aon abhcóide amas ná barúil ach go gcuirfeadh sé fianaise scríofa faoi bhráid na cúirte.

Like you said ""tugtadh le fios dom" "tuigim" or even "feicim" would be ok.
But I'd say "feicfear dom" (not sure if there is an F there or not, you know my spelling lol).

In English "I see" isn't literal either. The judge didn't actually watch her taking her exams but he knows she did it.

If it's the present tense, I think one would spell "feicthear dom", a Bhríd - úsáidtear an "f" ins an aimsir fháistineach :)
