Also, with regards to a' rith. I read in Gramadach na Gaeilge that it was more standard to use i mo rith, similar to the other stative structures (i mo dhúiseacht, srl). Does this still hold true?

Hmm,
there are 1,600 samples for "ag rith" in the New Corpus for Ireland (657 by native speakers)
but only 130 samples for "ina rith" (3 for "i mo rith", 3 for "i do rith", 1 for "inár rith")

There are 16 examples of "mé ag rith", 2 by native speakers (both in small clauses without "tá")

Did you mean eating?

ag rith = running (or: i mo rith as already mentioned)
ag ithe = eating

Ah yes.... I got it back to mind in the afternoon.

"ag ithe" was the one with "e" at the end.
and "ag rith" was the one verb without "e".

I think I will have a lot of verbs to learn.... maybe the 20 or 30 most important ones.

In Conamara you often hear:

Rith sé.

Bhí sé ag rithaíocht.
