I am had a stab at translating a prayer of the faithful below. I am sure there are lots of mistakes/better translations so if you could help it would be much appreciated.

For the lonely old and the lonely young, for the hungry rich and the hungry poor. For the sick in body, mind and spirit. For the weakness in all of us. Lord hear us.

Faoi choinne an uaigneach sean agus an uaigneach óg, faoi choinne an t-ocras saibhir agus an t-ocras bocht. Faoi choinne an tinn i gcolainn, intinn agus spiorad. Faoi choinne an laige i gach duine. A Thiarna, Éist linn.

Here's my suggestion. Yours need a nice but of work to be honest.

Dóibh siúd uaigneach seanda agus uaigneach óg, dóibh siúd saibhir ocrach agus daibhir ocrach. Dóibh siúd tinn sa chorp, san intreann agus sa spiorad. Don laige ionainn uile. A Thiarna, éist linn.

I knew my attempt wouldn't be the best but thought I would have a go and try to learn from the corrections.

I like ar son better than do here. That's what was used when I was asked to recite them for a function once.

Woopsie, yep ar son would be better. "ar son iad siúd...". What do you think of that (and the overall piece)?

I feel like it'd become ar a son siúd, but I do like that much better. Also, I feel like, given Irish's love for nouns instead of adjectives when it comes to addressing people, that there'd be a noun for 'the lonely', like as a group. Maybe aonraic, which is mentioned in Dinneen (and on Wombat's list on IGT)?

However, Gumbi, I still like yours, if we do the ar a son. I just wanted to use Irish's propensity for nouns, and to look some up from Wombat's and Caoimhín's lists.

Please, someone correct any mistakes I made with the genitives/plurals/anything in the above.

I did think of making nouns of them, but figured it made part of the construction awkward.

Couple of suggestions for your piece. I think the second aonraic would have to be genitivised, I think it would be

Ar son na seanaonraic agus na n-aonraic óga. I think "óg" shouold be pluralised too. The word I use for "the poor" is na boicht, though bochtán may well be fine too.

Is intreann a dialectal spelling? (EDIT: LOL I just realised I wrote this myself, intinn it should be :P I was posting it on phone I think haha) Also, "ar son na laige" no?

I do agree on na n-aonraic, but since it's a weak plural (aonraca, I believe, so aonraic in the relatively unused genitive plural), I believe it will stay óg, instead of óga.. Also, yes, on "laige". Stupid me and genders!

Also, I honestly couldn't remember bocht! I feel kinda "der" now, but I like it better as I feel it's more common.

So:
