Might it be a good idea to show these links on the Forum Rules page for people who are looking for translations and tattoos?

The Scottish Gaelic one seems to be a bit negative towards those seeking tattoos, so we might not want to show that one, given that a lot of our traffic is people looking for tattoo translations.

Might it be a good idea to show these links on the Forum Rules page for people who are looking for translations and tattoos?

The Scottish Gaelic one seems to be a bit negative towards those seeking tattoos, so we might not want to show that one, given that a lot of our traffic is people looking for tattoo translations.

It's probably not a bad thing for people to see that attitude, though, as it's a common one, and they are going to encounter it...possibly even here. On IGTF, we always had some people who wouldn't do tattoo translations, and often they were pretty vocal about it. There really are two ways of looking at it. I'm not a fan of tattoos myself, and I honestly think a lot of the requests we get are pretty silly, but I look upon it as a good way to get some translation practice in, and if these people are bound and determined to get themselves inked in Irish, I'd rather they do it right. For others, it's a waste of their time. Some forums won't do tattoo translations at all. Personally, I think the two posts pretty much balance each other out in that regard.

I'm not a big fan of them either, and some of the tattoo requests can be quite silly indeed. However, as you were saying they are a good way to get some practice in; I am just afraid that people will read the article (the Scottish one; I don't have the same reservations about your one) and come away with the wrong impression- not ask for a translation and end up making a mess of it when they go to get tatooed.
