From the context I'm guessing it is Old(?) Irish for "guest". Maybe related to the modern word "druid" (get closer to) - guessing again :D .

Could be but is it any guest?. There is OI inndrich "originate ", indisin "account", indraithne / indraichne "accounting for" indrem / indram "guidance".
"Accounting for" sounds a bit like a druid who's come for his regulated income.

" Not anyone could become a Brehon...But if you did pass, you were set for life. The queen or king gave Brehons land and sheep, so they could have an income during times of peace! Nice! And being a Brehon came with good social standing. In ancient times, the Brehon was seen as a mysterious person who the Gods kept watch over. - See more at: Old Moore's Almanac | Irish Traditions to Revive – Laws Of Olde "

So did the judges get the good bread , cruithneacd bairgan indriud ?
इन्द्र indra adj. chief
इन्द्र indra adj. best
इन्द्र indra adj. excellent
इन्द्र indra adj. first
Kritajaya : name of a king .( or Kertajaya) * kRt cruith.
east Sanskrit kerta : judge. जय jaya m. Indra
