I'd like to learn from you - both about coding and Irish! What have you used C++ for in the past? Do you have any experience with Apple's Core Audio system?

With C++, simulation of financial markets, applets, small games and text adventures, a spreadsheet program (just to understand Excel better), parts of a compiler (a VB compiler written in C++ that is).

Yes, I have some experience with the Core Audio System, but just messing around not professional level.

C++ is a very difficult language, the most difficult in the long term in my opinion. It is often better to use propriety languages of the operating system if you can, like Objective-C for iOS or C#, VB.Net, F# for Windows. I use C++ when I have to (even then it can be better to cheat and use an operating system improved version like C++/CLI on Windows, rather than pure C++.) Is fearr C# briste ná C++ cliste!

PM away if you want, I wouldn't want this thread to swell into An Lon Dubh's coding corner! :)

Go hiontach! Beidh mé ag cur sin ar an mballa ag obair. Is breá liom C# ach anois bím ag obair le JavaScript i gcónaí mar bím ag imeascadh web apps mar Jira agus SharePoint...

Too new here to private message. Matt: There are Irish classes on both the north (Irish American Heritage Center) and south sides (Gaelic Park). If you want a regular class or just contacts with other learners, let me know.

I think you may have responded to the wrong thread. Did you mean to respond to the "Hello from the Midwest" thread? Maybe a mod can move this.
