In Irish would this be correct or not?

Ní bhfuair mé ó áit ar bith é.

Ní bhfuair mé é ón aon áit ar bith.

" Ní bhfuair mé é ó áit ar bith'' would probably be more to the point. ''ón'' is a combination of ''ó'' and the definite article ''an'' and would be used to indicate specificity of some kind.

Moving the é to the end of the sentence would make it a bit more natural to me.

But it should read Ní bhfuair mé (or bhfuireas) ó áit (or ó aon, but I find this unnatural as it is) ar bith é.

But I'm not really a fan of directly translating an English phrase and concept of "get something from anywhere" into Irish.

You're absolutely right about transposing English into Irish - that's why I'm asking how you would express this idea in Irish. It's always the problem, isn't it? Can it be turned round or fronted in some way, to make it sound more natural? I can give you more context if you wish. I create teaching materials and games - it's very much home-made and artisanal as we say here . I'm sick and tired of being asked - where did you get that from? As I've put a lot of thought into how I do it and a fair amount of time experimenting on how to make it, my stock answer is - I didn't get it from anywhere. Obviously they think I'm not capable of making it or too stupid to think up the idea. Eventually I might add, if I'm in a good mood - I made it myself. - Is mise le déanta (is that how you would say that?)

In my non-expert opinion :prof: , I think Gumbi has got it right (except for the spelling of bhfuaireas, but that's probably just a typo).

Ní bhfuaireas ó áit ar bith é.

Definitely wait to hear from people who know a lot more about this than I do!

I find nothing wrong with previous suggestions.

But personally I'd say -
Ní bhfuair mé in aon áit é.
(pronounced as - Ní bhfuair mé i n-aon áit é. :) )
