I've noticed on Ros na Rún recently that everyone's saying "Oh sugar!" Is that the latest polite alternative for "shite"?

Is that spoken or in the subtitles?

I haven't seen Ros na Rún in a while.

It's spoken (in English). So far the main culprits have been Niamh, Lee, and Francis.

"Sugar" was a very common replacement for "sh--" in the American South when I was young, but was generally used only by females. i never heard a male use it, and it would have been thought very "prissy" if they had, especially in those gender-non-neutral days.

It's just that I've never heard it on Ros na Rún before, and now I hear it at least once per episode!
