Would anyone like a massive thread detailing Connacht Irish? I'm sorta thinking along the lines of Lon Dubh's Notes section, but detailing a lot of Connacht things (even specific ones). I know Robert can help a lot with it, too, and Bríd. I just have seen some interest in Connacht Irish and thought it could be a useful thing.

That's a great idea! It also makes me think I should get off my arse and start doing notes again!

Connachta Irish is a huge subject... there are differences throughout Connemara, not to mention the Aran islands, Mayo...

Mayo has in the north, Erris and Achill, while Tourmakeady is in the south

Galway has Joyce country north of Galway city, and to the west, Comamara Theas and Cois Fharraige and to the south, the Aran Islands.

East Galway, Roscommon, Sligo, Leitrim, Cavan and the Meath varieties are gone but are attested

Essentially, you are looking at Erris, Conamara general, Cois Fharraige and Aran

Indeed. I was planning in working generally, out of An Teanga Bheo: Gaeilge Chonnachta and then going into subdialects that have lots of resources, like Ros Muc, Cois Fharraige, etc.

Is that an actual book or a typo? And of course I'm in.

A typo. And awesome. What do you think would be a good way to start? Verbs? Pronunciation?

Tourmakeady
Erris
Achill (incomplete book photocopied with sounds amd phrases)
Caint Ros Muc
Modern Irish
Téarmaí tógála agus tís as Inis Meáin (coming in post)
An Teanga Bheo

These are what I have. I think if we divvied up by book and chapter of book, there would less overlap in effort. Just my suggestion

Jay Bee's final couple of sentences begs the question, what's the format here? Are we talking about an FAQ style of post? Do we want to make this a collaborative document (like an MS Word document) where you would have simultaneous authoring, commenting, document versioning etc?

Personally I think the most difficult piece is going to be pronunciation. That alone might require a lot of discussion before we produce something.
