Just came across this. Just changes writing to a simplified IPA transcription

http://gphemsley.org/linguistics/ga/ortho2ipa/

It seems to shorten certain long vowels in certain positions. I suppose they are a bit shorter in actual speech, but it might cause a little confusion to the novice, but is useful as a free tool

Doesn't give fully correct transcriptions.
I tried: déanamh
it gave: dʲenaw...

I tried: rinneadh
it gave: rʲɪnʲæɣ
That pronunciation doesn't exist. It's simply a machine that converts one letter or set of letters into the same phonological symbol, regardless of context (stressed or unstressed vowel, place in the word...)...

And it's phonology, not phonetical IPA:
"buí" gives "bi:". In phonetics (ie. what is pronounced) it's [bwiː].
Without the glides, it's not that helpful for learners, because they wouldn't know broad b is pronounced bw before a long i...

So... it should be improved!
Abair.ie worked better although it had problems too sometimes :)

True, but as he says, it's got flaws in it.

It could be fixed of course by accounting for grammatical morphologies in the moods and glides between broad and slender
