Hi, I am a fiction writer and was looking for the following words/phrases translated, if anyone can help I greatly appreciate it:

-my betrothed or fiance (female)
-betrothal
-soul mate
-a pact or bond
-one who is cursed or damned
-war

I was also looking to name a fictional village in County Tyrone near Lough Neagh, I want it to mean either Village of Warriors
or Village of Wolf Warriors (something like that).

I have been told that Sraidbhaile means village, is that correct?

Thanks,
CD
:)

Wait for confirmation, but I suggest -

my fiancée - mo bhean atá geallta
betrothal - gealltanas pósta
soul mate - cara cléibh or buanchara (anamchara means a spiritual advisor for someone who is preparing himself for the priesthood)
a pact or bond - socrú or comhaontú
one who is cursed or damned - an té atá mallaithe or damanta
war - cogadh
(I looked them up on Pota Focal and the other associated dictionaries)

for a village I suggest you use the word - baile

For 'Village of Warriors' or 'Village of Wolf Warriors' I suggest -

Baile na nGaiscíoch

Baile na nGaiscíoch gconriochtaí

but once again, wait for confirmation.

For "my betrothal", you can also use mo chleamhnas.

Those seem a bit unlikely as names for an Irish town/village (especially the second one), but literally you could use:

Baile na nGaiscíoch
Village/Town of the Warriors

Baile na nGaiscíoch Faolchonda
Village/Town of the Wolf-Like Warriors

Yes, but note the accent: sráidbhaile
Literally, it means "street town/village", implying that it is small (a "one street" village).
In village names, though, Baile is much more likely, so that's what I've given above.

My response crossed with franc's second one.

Quote:
Baile na nGaiscíoch gconriochtaí

That works, too, but the adjective would not be eclipsed (or lenited), so
Baile na nGaiscíoch Conriochtaí
Perhaps a more fluent speaker can say which adjective is better for wolf-like or wolfish.

thank you all so much. so i need this because i am writing a YA paranormal fiction ebook (part 3 in a series) and it is a village of predominantly Werewolves who have been working for the Church, so what if I wanted to call it Connor's Village or just Wolf Village??

Conriochtaí means werewolves - though I was using it as an adjective - there's also the expression - i gconriocht - which means - like a werewolf. (It would seem strange that werewolves could be working for the Church, but it's your story)

A Chaoimhín - thank you for correcting my mistake - I wasn't quite sure about that.
