For those who don't understand, the paper is saying that there seems to be a hidden undercurrent of irish history in voting patterns, with native names more likely to vote for FF and Anglo Norman and English named people more likely to vote for FG

I've not had time to do anything but skim the article. It does look really interesting though, and perhaps is not surprising at all.

I once read that the France/Belgian border largely follows a line drawn after a Roman Empire-era battle, and that's older again!

And it's hard to see why anyone with any surname would vote for either! :twisted: We're like turkeys voting for Christmas these days!
