I just wanted to let the forum know that with Bríd's permission I have started transforming her Focal an Lae thread into a course on Memrise that includes her sound files.

Part one is complete and contains the first 3 pages of Bríd's contributions (roughly 40 words).

If you notice any errors, please feel free to contact me by posting on the course's forum on Memrise (you'll find a link on the course's page) or here. I hope you all find it very useful!

Wow this is great Robert and Bríd! :good:

I tried it myself, just to let you know it considers Réamhrá as incorrect for réamhrá, maybe there is a way to get it to ignore capitals?

Thank you Robert, that looks great. :GRMA:

Just a suggestion - I'd leave the more obscure words out of it like Bréidín and Báinín, as they are not much used today. But that's totally up to you and what you think.

I wonder who that Cailleach na nGadhair is... ;)

It is recommended that you always wait for three to agree on a translation.
I speak Connemara Irish, and my input will often reflect that.
I will do an mp3 file on request for short translations.

Go raibh maith agat. I had set it to strict when testing. That should be acceptable now.

I was already considering creating lessons with different themes like "Word that sound similar" and "Animals" so maybe I will make an "Advanced" level and move those into it. For the extra levels I will probably pull from you Forvo contributions as well.

With all this fame, soon Bríd will leave us all and will only want to hang out with the cool kids!

Go raibh maith agat, a Sheáin. Nuashonróidh mé an cúrsa le cupla leibhéal eile go gairid!
