Fair play to you and your efforts. Kay is ainm dom. (Your name comes first.) Le meas.

When you begin to think of Irish as being backwards of English, just remind yourself that it is English that is backwards of Irish!!

Hello, my name is Lynsi :D I joined this forum primarily for a tattoo translation, and also for my interest in learning more about the language. I visited Ireland in June 2011 with my father and grandmother. She has traced our ancestry to Churchtown, near Tipperary. My maiden name is Egan and would love to eventually find more about our family that lived there.
Thanks in advance for your help with the translations. :toast:

Dia duit!

Typical Boston USA Irish here; looking into Irish classes in my area (there are many! :good: ) and thought this forum might help supplement. Maternal side is from the village of Anabla in Killarney, Co. Kerry (McGillicuddys - 1/2 the family still there) and paternal are Noonans from just outside Tralee. Cheers to you all for creating this website!

Hi Jo, if they were from Anabla and depending on when they emigrated, Irish might have been their first language.

Dia daoibh a cairde ! Is mise Patrick. Tá mé i mo chónaí i Florida. Tá mé ag foghlaim na Gaeilge ach is tosaitheoir mé fos :bash:

And now that I've exhausted my fluency in Irish, I'll have to resort to the use of Bearla to continue on. Tá bron orm

I was once subscribed to IGTF a few years back under the user name itamedragons, but for some reason or another drifted away from using it. I do recognize a few of the user names from IGTF here ! To them I say "Tá sé go maith a fheiceann tú arís". You might remember me after I've made a few posts and contributions here ... maybe.

I'm still at a stage in my Irish where I do more "listening" than "talking" but I will jump in when I think I can add something to the discussion.

Looking forward to making new friends :)
