Hello! My name is Gregory. I am just beginning my attempt to learn Irish. All of my grandparents are from Ireland and it is my wish to bring the language of my family's past to my family of today. I am totally new to this but looking to learn as much as I can.

Hello folks,
my name is Rike and I am from Germany. I've started learning Irish this semester at my university, but I'd already take a liking for the language a long time ago.
Sadly our teacher is a little complicated to follow, so hopefully I could find some help here.

Dears Rike

Hello, I'm Kate. I'm here to learn what I can about the language of my parents. Both were born in Ireland. Growing up, I had little time to learn Gaelic. I'm here now to fix that.

Cén chaoi a bhfuil sibh? Mise Daniel. Is foghlaimeoir mé.

I've been studying Irish off and on for about three years (including at the university level in North America and in the Gaeltacht by a number of very able Irish-born teachers) but have never really studied for a sustained period of time, so much of what I've learned has been forgotten, at least for the time being. I intend to get back into the swing of things and make significant progress in 2014 and beyond.

According to ranganna.ie my Irish is at the Elementary (or second lowest) level, which is probably being generous! :) Although I hadn't studied Irish in more than eight months when I took the test.

I recently purchased the hard copy version of Ó Dónaill's Gaeilge gan Stró - Beginners Level as a refresher. I have had Ó Siadhail's Learning Irish for awhile, but I haven't gotten too far into it. I have a strong preference for the blas of Cois Fharraige in particular, and Connacht Irish more generally, and try to mimic the sounds of the dialect as best I can. I have a good ear, but grammar is my weakness.

Anyway, looking forward to interacting with you.

Nollaig Shona daoibh!

It is recommended that you always wait for three to agree on a translation.
I speak Connemara Irish, and my input will often reflect that.
I will do an mp3 file on request for short translations.
