There are a number of ways to express "I love you" in Irish. Two of the more idiomatic ones are:

Mo ghrá thú. "I love you" literally "you are my love"

Tá mo chroí istigh ionat. "I love you" literally "my heart is in you" ("I've given you my heart" ?).

Help - somebody translated the above for me and I was practicing how to say it but did not write the translation down as I thought it would always be in the thread! It looks like somehow the thread with the translation has disappeared!! If somebody has it could they repost please! Thanks.

There are interesting grammatical problems that arise in constructions using the verb "to be" in English because Irish, like Spanish, divides usage between two different verbs.

In the absence of Braoin's earlier translation, here's another attempt to ignite a discussion that might lead to a good translation for what you have requested:

Mo ghrá thú, ní hamháin mar tá tú mar atá tú, ach mar tagaim chun bheith níos mó nuair atá mé leat freisin.
"I love you, not on because you are as you are, but also because I become more when I am with you."

Mo ghrá thú, ní hamháin as a bhfuil déanta agat díotsa féin, ach as a bhfuil tú á dhéamamh díomsa freisin.
"I love you , not only for what you have made of yourself, but for what you are making of me."

Await confirmation or correction of the above, and then we will try to make you another recording ...
