A pain in the ass

What would be the Irish equivalent of a pain in the ass.

As in something is a pain im my ass or someone is a pain in my ass.

Cant find anything similar in my dictionary or for some reason think of another way of expressing it in English which might enable me to find something similar.

Well, literally "pian sa thóin."

"Pian i m'asal" doesn't work, because "asal" isn't a vulgar word for one's backside in Irish...it simply means "donkey," and calling someone a "pain in my donkey" doesn't make much sense.

Unlike English Irish doesn't really have vulgar terms for body parts, so you'll either have to go the literal route or see if one of our native speakers here have something they might use for a similarly annoying person.

I don't think it's as strong as the English phrase "pain in the ass." But then again, it's not what you say it's how you say it.

The new online dictionary at http://www.focloir.ie has these:

I think you have to swap "do" for the relevant possessive, eg: bíonn sé 'na chrá croí, bíonn sé 'na phéin sa tóin, agus mar sin.

perfect, wasnt really looking for anyting vulgar, just something which would explain how something or someone is a bit of a bother to you.

Wouldn't really consider "pain in the ass" vulgar myself .

On Pota Focal, they have for - it's a real pain, it's a menace - is crá croí é, and for - a pain in the neck - Ach is crá croí dom féin. For annoying - bioránach.
