Is anyone out there familiar with the e-book for Kindle called "Speak Irish Now"? http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00AORIQIW/ref=cm_sw_su_dp

Someone on Facebook is asking me about it, and it's not something I can check out, as I neither have, nor want, a Kindle. I do have to say that the four-leaved clover on the "cover" concerns me a tad. I've never heard of either of the authors.

I'd like to be able to give him some kind of input re the suitability of this e-book as a resource.

GRMA,

I checked out the website, but can't find anything about the authors, and that concerns me. What are their credentials, do you know?

From the preview on Amazon, it looks fine enough, but the pace is very slow.
The genitive comes around Lesson 200!

It always concerns me when someone writes a book on Irish and doesn't give his or her credentials...especially when the site is positively dripping with four-leaved clovers!

I did listen to one of the videos on the site and, other than a marked American accent, they seemed accurate enough.

I found a paper copy of the book available and have ordered it...we'll see.

really everything is possible in Irish teaching books. What's next? Irish recorded by Chinese speakers?

Well, let me put it this way: My accent in Irish is much, much better than theirs. But then I've really worked hard on my accent.

That said, at the very elementary level of this program, accent doesn't matter quite so much as accuracy. Still, it's a concern that, along with the lack of credentials, makes me uneasy.
