Seanfhocal : I'm looking for a seanfhocal that conveys the same meaning as "when it rains it pours". My first inclination is "Nuair a bháistionn sé doirteann sé" but I'm wondering if there any others that would be níos gaelaí and have the same meaning or what is said in the various Gaeltachtaí ?

are a couple that convey the meaning "It never rains but it pours."

If you'd like something more traditional and colorful:

Má chacann gé cacann siad go léir.
If a goose shits, they all shit.

or this variation, which I've also seen:

Má chacann gé cacann an t-ál.
If a goose shits, the whole gaggle shits.

was the version of that I had seen, but I always thought of it as a lack of independence.
However now that you put it in Séamus's context, Caoimhín, I see it could work there as well.

And here's another along those lines...

Srathair na hainnise ar chapall na tubaiste.
The yoke of misfortune upon the horse of calamity.

Might not mean quite it never rains..., but I think it's traditional.
