Good Afternoon!!

Would anyone know how to translate: "Be Soft" into Gaelic.

It is from the following quote
“Be soft. Do not let the world make you hard. Do not let pain make you hate. Do not let the bitterness steal your sweetness. Take pride that even though the rest of the world may disagree, you still believe it to be a beautiful place.”

Many thanks! I am visiting Ireland in May and I am soooooo excited!
Best wishes,
McKeznie

Irish sometimes reinforces meanings by using multiple adjectives, and I've seen this adjective combination before (each of the the adjectives has various meanings in the soft, mild, etc. spectrum):

Bí séimh socair [If said to one person]
Bígí séimh socair[If said to more than one person]

With a tattoo or a slogan, a logical case can be made for using either the singular or the plural, since it is arguably addressed to one person at a time. If you were speaking live to a group, you would definitely need to use the plural form, but slogans, proverbs, and the like often use the singular.

Don't rush off with that just yet. We recommend getting three in agreement here before doing anything permanent. Even the most experienced translator can make a typo. Let's wait for a few more opinions.

I like Caoimhín's use of alliteration in séimh socair.

My instinct is to use the singular in writing (where each person reads to his or her self), and plural in speaking, where you know if you are addressing more than one person or not.

Another possibility might be:

Go séimh socair leat ! "Be soft!" literally "Gently/easy with you!"

Await further input ...
